This morning we are assisting a client with a RAID degradation.
RAID stands for Redundant Array of Independent/Inexpensive Drives. The function of a RAID system is to place stored information sent to the server on multiple drives so that if one drive fails, the redundant drive still contains that information.
This morning we are rebuilding that redundancy and ensuring that the server continues to run and provide all of the funtionality to the users. No information has been lost. And the server continues to perform normally, however a bit slower until the RAID has been fully regenerated.

Traditional Menus for Office 2007
If you are as disgusted as I am about the new "ribbon" menu structure forced upon us with Microsoft Office 2007, we have a solution.
You can actually get your new Office version to display the old, familiar menu structure by downloading and installing a little add-in from http://www.addintools.com/digital-river/.
Additionally, you can select which application to use the old menus on. For example, we allow the new menu structure on Outlook but prefer the traditional menu structure for Word and Excel.
Give it a free trial. Less than $30 if you like it. "Wake up, Microsoft!"

Client Backups . . . Shadow Copies Work
We were happy to assist a client yesterday evening who had overwritten an important document. While the regular backups had been performed, changes to a document had been made after the daily backup.
Consequently, we accessed a shadow copy made by the Small Business Server 2003 and we were able to restore the document and saved the client HOURS of work.
Contact us for more information about how we can help you to secure your data and even protect yourself from accidental deletions.

AT&T Problems . . . Not just an opinion.
Well, we have had it with AT&T. Not only have we had many terrible experiences, but we would rather our clients spend their money more wisely.
Effective immediately, we will not take on any new clients who have AT&T as their Internet Service Provider.
So you think this is extreme? Consider this: AT&T CHARGES YOU for technical support for their DSL service. But it goes beyond that! You cannot reach ANYBODY who knows ANYTHING about the service they are selling.
The real problem is that they force a 2Wire router onto their clients which does NOT allow for any setup customization if you are a business looking to control internal IP settings.
Don't believe me? Check out Amrit Williams Blog:

Never Enough Time
There is never enough time during the day to communicate all the things we would like our clients to be aware of. AND then there is the problem of flooding too much information that most clients do not need.
So perhaps this blog is an ideal way to inform those who need information WHEN they need it!
We shall see!
